Abolition History:

State Rep. David Eastman and former State Rep. Chris Kurka have introduced legislation that would abolish abortion in the state every session since 2017. Eastman has also filed legislation over the years to impeach Alaska judges for “Malfeasance includes exercising legislative power.”

Eastman and Kurka’s bills have faced opposition from Democrats and pro-life leaders. The pro-life group Alaska Family Action has publicly opposed Eastman’s efforts, and even worked to unseat Eastman in the 2020 election.
