Legal
In 2022, Florida passed into law a bill banning abortion at 15 weeks. When abortion is legal at any stage, more than 90 percent of abortions occur before 15 weeks. Further, a 15-week ban would simply cause those who were waiting to get it done more quickly. The Florida 15-week ban has virtually no impact on abortion. Governor Ron DeSantis has publicly signaled his desire to sign a heartbeat bill in the 2023 legislative session.
