IOWA!? Why Iowa? And why in the middle of winter?
1. We have a Full-Blown Abolitionist in the House In Iowa, we aren’t just dealing with “pro-life” lip service. Representative Zach Dieken is a true brother and a hardcore abolitionist. He was an abolitionist before he was elected. He ran specifically to abolish abortion. He doesn’t compromise, he doesn’t amend bills for “political favor,” and he doesn’t sell out.
2. We want to turn Iowa into a “Case Study” for the Nation We want to put this state on center stage before the watching world. We will follow Dieken’s bill from filing to committee to the floor, to the governor’s office. Every legislator who touches this bill will be put on notice, and if they do the wrong thing, be put on blast. If they move the bill, they are heroes. If they table it or kill it, the world will know their names. The arguments and excuses used to kill abolition in Iowa are the same ones used in various other states. By defeating them here, we provide the manual for every other state.
3. Flipping the Political Script For 50 years, the “pro-life establishment” has told legislators they must kill abolition bills to keep their support. We are flipping that script. Legislators need to realize that if they do NOT support equal justice for the pre-born, they will lose their seats. The movement to ensure that happens is growing, and uniting behind a specific state like Iowa shows that strength even more.
4. Beyond “Online Activism” We need hundreds—thousands—of you in Des Moines. If legislators don’t see a physical “army” in the halls, they think the online pressure isn’t real. The first 3 days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) are the Justice Alone Conference (deep-dive theology and strategy). The next days (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday) are the Mission—legal, peaceful, and direct lobbying at the State Capitol.
5. National & Presidential Relevancy Iowa is the epicenter of presidential politics. Pastors and Christians have much more of an influence in Iowa because presidential candidates highly value that first primary victory. By forcing the conversation on abolition here, we force every future presidential candidate to answer for it. We are demanding justice, not the regulated “child sacrifice” allowed by the current political status quo.
