Outrage about Planned Parenthood has been a staple of pro-life fundraising and Republican candidates for a long time. It is easy-button territory for professional marketers in that sub-culture. It’s not done much to put a dent in their business.
In TX, where surgical abortion is now illegal, they’re still open. If you want to know why, look at the Federal money poured into them and observe the numbers during the Trump administration—record-breaking at the time and nearly identical to what the federal budgets were under Biden.
Marketers don't talk much about THAT during a book release and infomercial run when they are selling to Republicans during election season. But that’s the strategy. And it works.
Planned Parenthood isn’t bad because of Margaret Sanger. It’s bad because they kill babies. That’s all you need to know. Save your money. Unless you can find a copy of some of George Grant’s work on Planned Parenthood, which the meat of this campaign is based upon.
Although now that about 91% of abortions are done in the first trimester according to the CDC, the big provider on the block isn’t Planned Parenthood. It’s chemical and self-managed. And it’s done in bathrooms in your neighborhood. It is the democratization of the industry of child sacrifice. One guilty party is consistently protected by pro-life legislation–the mom who is not only murdering her baby, but is now disposing of the evidence in a toilet.
Big pro-life makes them the victims and sue over it. All the way to an unsuccessful Supreme Court case. If you believe Kristin Hawkins, it’s especially dangerous to bovine and drinking water. Not to mention the babies. Like, literally. She said, “Not to mention the babies.” Which she didn’t mention until she heroically tweeted that out.
When the marketing campaign doesn’t end with the book or infomercial but includes an initial church licensing agreement that requires a monthly donation in order to screen it and a push to build a parachurch organization, complete with a gala event that sold tickets for $500 or $1500 per person, while the chief executive (according to the latest 990 available) made $91k (ok $90.5k) in the film company’s first year at the same time the same non-profit film company had nearly $1M in donations 2 years before the recent marketing campaign—there’s more going on here than educational or political activism. This is just another pro-life play. With at least some of the founders of Angel Studios involved in the PR.
When the marketing campaign is over, will the speaking engagement fees be back in place? Time will tell.
As an interesting aside, it’s also worth pointing out that Turning Point USA (headed by Charlie Kirk) received $3M from a Republican PAC in 2023. How much they received in 2024 during the heat of a presidential election is anyone’s guess until the 990’s are filed and available. He is officially with TPUSA. Like everyone associated with them, and every other neo-con talking head and pro-life social media influencer, he should be willing to answer the question, “Did you receive Republican PAC money during this election cycle and exactly when did you receive it?”
I bet we can guess the “when” based on when the social media platforms all began finding pragmatic, ungodly justifications to ignore President Trump’s abysmal position on child sacrifice.
It’s good business. It’s GREAT marketing and PR. And pretty good politics.
But it all misses the point. The problem isn’t Margaret Sanger. The problem is the demand for pills purchased and used by your neighbors who have murder in their hearts.
The only question that remains is, “Now that this machine is built, will it be used to support, ignore, or squash abolition bills?” Based on the track record, there is no indication there will be support. Yes, there have been allusions to support in the future, but thus far AIM-KS reports that he refuses to meet with their leadership regarding the efforts to abolish abortion in the State of his residence. The record has been to ignore the bills, in spite of claims that he has “always been an abolitionist” and “wants the same thing we do.” All while issuing messaging that contradicts itself.
Messaging like, “Abortion is demonic child sacrifice, the sacrament of Satan.” Etc. Etc.
When your sidekick has been debating publicly against abolitionists in favor of incrementalism, the logical questions are, “How much demonic child sacrifice or sacrament of Satan should a Christian support? Only that which is offered before a heartbeat?”
This organization could be the first such pro-life machine to support a bill of abolition, but they would be the first. Time will tell.
And yes, I’m talking about the 1916 book and documentary by Seth Gruber. And the machine is White Rose Resistance.
Now, all this sounds very skeptical, very snarky, very agitating.
Hear me out.
This is your chance to prove me wrong. Prove that I am wrong by supporting abolitionist bills in real action, not just talk. Prove that you will use your new machine to support immediate abolition. Make me a liar. I hope and pray that you will.
If you do and when you do, I will praise God for your work. Publicly. On this blog.
But if you do not, you should expect everyone who has ever heard you say that you are running all of the plays to call you out when you don’t. That’s not “mean”. That’s not a “smear.” That’s accountability for the words you have spoken and typed on social media.
In the words of the great theologian, Yoda, “Do or do not. There is no ‘try.’”
