The murder of preborn children is legal in North Carolina until 20 weeks, at which point it is only legal in the case of a medical emergency.
In 2021, State Rep. Larry Pittman introduced HB158, the first bill to abolish abortion in North Carolina. In order to get around the State’s Democratic governor who would veto any abortion ban, HB158 would have placed the abolition of abortion on the ballot for voters to affirm. The bill was opposed by House Republican leadership.
