North Dakota

Status of Abortion:

LEGAL

North Dakota currently protects the murder of preborn children up to 20 weeks, at which point it becomes illegal except to protect the life of the mother. North Dakota has a trigger law which banned abortion for abortionists from conception with exceptions for rape, incest, and life of the mother once Roe was overturned. That law (N.D. Code § 12.1-31-12) is currently held up in State court.

Abolition History:

No bill has been introduced to abolish abortion in North Dakota.
