South Carolina law allows abortion up until 22 weeks. A heartbeat bill passed by the state was struck down by the State Supreme Court in January, 2023 for being “arbitrary.”
State Rep. Jonathan Hill introduced the first bill to abolish abortion in South Carolina in 2021. In 2023, State Rep. Rob Harris filed House Bill 3549, the South Carolina Prenatal Equal Protection Act.
