The murder of preborn children is legal in North Carolina until 12 weeks unless a qualified physician determines there's a medical emergency, through the 20th week of pregnancy if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, and through the 24th week of pregnancy if a qualified physician determines there's a life-limiting fetal anomaly.

Abolition History:

In 2021, State Rep. Larry Pittman introduced HB158, the first bill to abolish abortion in North Carolina. To get around the State’s Democratic governor who would veto any abortion ban, HB158 would have placed the abolition of abortion on the ballot for voters to affirm. The bill was opposed by House Republican leadership.
